Projects in Development

Each project is being built slowly, collaboratively and with audiences invited in early. There will be opportunities to get involved from Spring 2026. So keep your eyes peeled!

QB TITLE off white_edited.png

A new drag cabaret blending theatre, live music, gig and comedy. The show follows the absurd adventures of Queen Bayard - an alien taking the form of a drag queen - as she navigates pop culture, politics and life on Earth.

A collaboration between Bay Bryan (writer/performer), Claire O’Connor (director/dramaturg) and Jamie Walsh (writer/producer), the project builds on Bay’s Developing Your Creative Practice research into storytelling within drag.

The project includes a work-in-progress sharing at Lincoln Arts Centre’s DEMO night, a development residency supported by Wrongsemble and Interplay Theatre with a public sharing. More to be shared in the development stage as it grows towards a future touring production.

THE FLOOD TITLE off white_edited.png

A new theatre project about Cockermouth, developed through local stories and creative collaboration.

Set one year after the 2009 floods, during the 2010 Christmas light switch-on, when rumours spread that Take That are secretly in town to perform The Flood. Through humour and everyday detail, it looks at how a small town carries on after being briefly thrust into the national spotlight.

The project is led by writer/producer Jamie Walsh, who grew up in Cockermouth, and is developed in partnership with Everywhere Everything Everyone CIC, Theatre by the Lake and Kirkgate Arts.

ALLARDICIS TITLE off white _edited.png

A surreal comedy musical about football, fame and what happens when you defy expectations.

Set in Allardici’s, a fictional lounge bar on the Spanish Costa Blanca, the show imagines Sam Allardyce in a nightly residency, backed by a house band of former players and surrounded by loyal regulars. From Bolton’s glory days and touchline rivalries to the chaos of the England job, the story unfolds as a cartoonish fever dream of footballing myth, media scrutiny and larger-than-life ego.

Part musical fantasy, part fanfiction-biography, Allardici’s is written by a lifelong Bolton Wanderers fan and developed through place-based collaboration with local communities and football fans. Led by writer/producer (and lifelong Bolton Wanderers fan) Jamie Walsh and developed with Bolton-based partners, with national touring ambition.
